Networks & Programs

We get it all done through collaboration in our networks and programs.

Networks

GIAA focuses on helping young female aviators who are either in high school or have less than 10 years of experience in the field. Our network includes three levels: High School, Aviation Student, and Young Professional. Currently, we have 30 connected GIAA members across Kenya. We’ve reached out to 3,832 high school girls and 343 Primary School children in 8 different counties in Kenya.

GIAA High School Network

Our GIAA High school network consists of a stream of High schools we have connected with through our High School Mentorship Visits.

GIAA Avi-Student Network

Our GIAA Avi-student network connects aviation students pursuing various careers within the sector. This consists of student pilots, engineering students, civil aviation management students and so much more.

GIAA Young Professionals

Our GIAA Young Professionals network connects different women within the aviation industry that have begun their careers fully certified in whichever field.

Programs

GIAA programs aim at keeping the networks connected all through the year. Through annual conferences, monthly check-ins, school mentorship visits and more, we get to create awareness, expand the GIAA network and support one another.

GIAA High School Mentorship Outreach

We visit different girls’ High Schools located in Kenya, spending a day to a week in the school, sharing the different careers in aviation, minimum grades required, and encouraging the girls into different STEM careers. Additionally, we mentor and answer questions arising from life’s challenges such as mental health, sanitary hygiene and more.

GIAA High School Aviation Clubs

Through our High school aviation clubs mentorship, we work with schools in establishing aviation clubs for girls interested in aviation. Once established, we are able to provide mentorship on a monthly basis.

GIAA Socials

Our GIAA Socials consist of hangout events throughout the year for members to get to know each other. We do this through movie dates, breakfast, lunch, dinner dates etc. and our annual end of year party. We get to kick it out of uniform and bond over good food, entertainment and games.

Sister’s Keeper

Sister’s Keeper in GIAA is where members are paired up in twos or threes. The purpose is to build relationships as well as keep everyone connected to GIAA at a more personal level. Members share the joint responsibility of keeping in touch with each other, finding out how we are all doing, sharing challenges, life updates and supporting each other.

Monthly Online Check In Sessions

Our monthly online check in sessions are where we get current with everyone in the network line. This ranges from sharing personal updates, celebrating promotions and completion of exams or school to offering support for challenging times or encouraging members searching for work. During these sessions we also share upcoming events. As always our check Ins begin and end with prayer, committing it all to Jesus Christ.

GIAA Mentorship Program

Our year-long mentorship program consists of a pool of external mentors who walk with young girls connected in the network. These mentors are seasoned experienced female aviation professionals able to guide young girls starting out their careers. Mentees benefit through interaction and receiving guidance on how to navigate and grow their professional aviation career.

GIAA Connect Conferences

Our GIAA connect conference is a yearly conference focused on creating a platform for women in aviation in Africa to share their stories with the upcoming female aviators. The conference is open to the public and offers a great networking opportunity. At GIAA conferences, we invite airline companies and schools to showcase as well as share job opportunities.
